I have always loved the shadows cast on walls by trees, you could look at them as an extension of the tree. I was inspired to make necklaces that would cast beautiful shadows, seeing the shadows as part of the necklace. I wanted to explore the interaction between the necklace and the body by looking at the way light casts patterns. The movement of the body in and out of different lighting will make them visually exciting to view and attract attention. The motion of the person wearing the necklaces will also mean that the shadows move over their body in interesting ways at different times.

Massi Tribes womwns wedding necklaces

e necklaces were inspired by Masai Tribes women’s disc shaped wedding necklaces which are disc based pieces. The essence of the warrior tribe fed though in the final pieces. (I called one piece leaf warrior princess.)

These pieces are made using my own method of dying and embossing plastic which I call fossilised Plastic due to the fine detail which it is possible to capture on the embossed surface . For the subject I choose quite ordinary plants and weeds . I hope that the wearer will not only enjoy them as jewellery but also review their appreciation of the natural world. I set out to create a marriage between the industrial and the organic. I want to create a feeling of celebration between material and subject.
