This handmade acrylic contemporary cuff is made using White-beam leaves from a tree which has since been cut down as it was leaning over the path (see picture below). White-beam trees have a tendency to lean. I collect dry and press the leaves and made these in memory of a beautiful tree.
I collected dried and press the leaves, Then heat the acrylic and press the leaves into the surface. I then use them as a stencil to apply the colours. The skeleton leaf is then peeled off to reveal the design. This is a method of dying and embossing plastic I developed myself. I call it 'fossilised ' due to the fine detail which it is possible to capture on the embossed surface so they are similar to fossils. I harness nature to create original pieces. They are a memory of each individual white-beam leaf.
