About Sue Gregor MA

Contemporary Fine Artist | Drawing & Painting | Former Award-Winning Jewellery Designer

I am a Bristol-based artist working in drawing and painting, with a background in fine art, printmaking, and contemporary jewellery design. After decades of creating and exhibiting my botanical jewellery internationally, I’ve returned to my roots in figurative art, where I focus on mark-making, immediacy, and emotional expression.

A Creative Evolution

Originally trained in Fine Art at Falmouth University and later earning an MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking from UWE Bristol, I spent many years freelancing across creative industries including fashion and millinery. In 2005, I launched my jewellery practice, where I developed a unique process of creating vibrant, botanical jewellery using recycled plastic and real leaves. Inspired by urban wildflowers and nature’s resilience, my work explored sustainability, texture, and surface in a contemporary context.

My botanical jewellery was exhibited around the world, including at Dazzle Exhibitions, NYC Jewellery Week, Sieraad Art Fair, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Arnolfini, and The Sainsbury Centre, among many others.

Return to Fine Art

In recent years, I felt an urgent pull to return to drawing and painting—a more direct, expressive mode of working. My focus is now on creating original artworks that explore the experience of being alive in the present moment. I work with charcoal, coloured pencil, acrylic, and oils, producing figurative pieces that often edge into abstraction. My interest lies in how light moves across a surface, how a mark can hold emotion, and how stillness and movement coexist in the same space.

What connects my past and present work is a deep engagement with surface, pattern, and sensory experience. Whether I was embedding a leaf into a necklace or drawing its shadow on paper, the act of observing nature and responding to it has always been at the heart of my practice.

Current Work

I am now fully dedicated to this next chapter in my creative life. My recent drawing was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, affirming my commitment to this new direction in fine art.

My work is about presence, energy, and the emotional resonance of the everyday. I invite you to explore this collection of drawings and paintings—each one a meditation on being fully here, in this moment.
